For Fernando!

Seventy2 Magazine is a football magazine covering Glasgow Rangers. The main inspiration was the recent news on Fernando Ricksen (who features on the front cover and the issue also features an interview with Vincent de Vries the man who wrote Fernando’s recent book Vechtlust) and the magazine is donating 10p from every sale to a charity supporting ALS or Motor Neurone Disease – Fernando’s illness.

This is explained by Seventy2 Editor, Mal Robinson. “Glasgow Rangers has a great modern history linked to Dutch football and we wanted to celebrate this as a theme for our next issue. We had Michael Mols in a previous issue and the idea was born from there. We had a few Dutch players lined up to feature inside and one of them was Fernando Ricksen, with whom we had organised an interview with earlier this year. We were a bit surprised then when he did not answer his phone. It was then the devastating news was made public on Dutch TV about Fernando’s condition.

We decided it was only right to leave Fernando in peace and in private, however we wanted to show our support for him by putting him on the front cover. This was not enough for us and so we decided to donate money from sales to a charity linked with the same condition Fernando was diagnosed with. Then Vincent de Vries, Fernando’s biographer got in touch to provide an interview about Fernando as well as a list of tributes from former players (including the current Fortuna Sittard coach) and fans all praising Fernando.

We hope the magazine is not only bought by Rangers fans but football fans both in Holland and of Fernando’s former clubs too, it is an interesting read for any Dutch supporter.” Further quotes can be had from Mal on 00447513238580 or malrobinsonseventy3@gmail.com He also has Dutch player quotes to use also.
